Drop impact on solid surfaces widely occurs both in nature and engineering. In this Perspective, we review the recent advances experimental, theoretical, numerical investigations of drop dynamics surfaces. The relevant theoretical models methods, such as wetting transition volume-of-fluid method, are briefly described. influences key factors dynamics, underlying mechanisms forces energies, examined. Especially, analyze contact time for a impacting surface discuss effective strategies to tune dynamic behavior. design principles functional some typical applications also discussed. Finally, Perspectives given future development its potential diverse engineering fields.
