Drive aware training: A computerized training program for older drivers’ detection of road hazards

چکیده

Objective Cognitive training for reducing crash rate can be delivered to older drivers via in-person on-road sessions, a driving simulator, or using computer-based cognitive methods. Despite established effectiveness, assessment and rehabilitation are expensive, limited professional service may not readily accessible; simulator-based fit every driver due simulator sickness. In comparison, computerized is easier implement could with little cost computer access. Based on the Drive Aware Task, validated measure of attentional processes in hazard detection, we developed method focus detection. this study, examined effectiveness newly-developed interactive program improving drivers’ detection road hazards. Methods Using matched-pair design, nine triads three (aged 65 above) matched pretest performance gender were formed. For each triad, participant was randomly allocated one groups: 1) active group receive two sessions (1.5–2.5h per session); 2) passive video-watching (i.e., watch video session from corresponding paired participant); 3) no-contact control group. Older performances simulated measured before after training. Results The showed significant effects task performance, while there only marginal no A post-training survey suggested receptive program. Conclusions has potential used as prevention intervention tool improve performance. Future studies should examine more diverse samples long-term outcomes.

Evaluation of a re-training program for older drivers.

BACKGROUND Some older drivers may have a higher crash risk than others. Because many of these drivers have not received formal driving training, we evaluated the effectiveness of a re-training program for older drivers as it is currently being offered. Specifically, we examined if older drivers who received the training would have better scores on a driving evaluation than drivers who did not r...

A Computerized Training Environment for

The high cost associated with the training of forestry machine operators has led to the development of a computerized training environment for this task. Since the emphasis is on training instead of computer graphics, the degree of realism with which we present a forest scene, for example, must be balanced by the available computing power so that the operator's gestures may be reeected, in real...

The drive-wise project: driving simulator training increases real driving performance in healthy older drivers

BACKGROUND Age-related cognitive decline is often associated with unsafe driving behavior. We hypothesized that 10 active training sessions in a driving simulator increase cognitive and on-road driving performance. In addition, driving simulator training should outperform cognitive training. METHODS Ninety-one healthy active drivers (62-87 years) were randomly assigned to one of three groups:...

Computerized Cognitive Training with Older Adults: A Systematic Review

A systematic review to examine the efficacy of computer-based cognitive interventions for cognitively healthy older adults was conducted. Studies were included if they met the following criteria: average sample age of at least 55 years at time of training; participants did not have Alzheimer's disease or mild cognitive impairment; and the study measured cognitive outcomes as a result of trainin...
