Microcystis aeruginosa is a problematic cyanobacterium in freshwater lakes distributed worldwide. Here, we report the draft genome sequence of M. aeruginosa NIES-87, isolated from Lake Kasumigaura, Japan. The genome is approximately 4.9 Mb in size, with an average G+C content of 42.9% and 4,355 predicted protein-coding genes.

Microcystis aeruginosa NIES-2549 is a freshwater bloom-forming cyanobacterium isolated from Lake Kasumigaura, Japan. We report the complete 4.29-Mbp genome sequence of NIES-2549 and its annotation and discuss the genetic diversity of M. aeruginosa strains. This is the third genome sequence of M. aeruginosa isolated from Lake Kasumigaura.

We newly sequenced the whole genome of M. aeruginosa NIES-98, which is a non-microcystin-producing strain isolated from Lake Kasumigaura, Japan. The genome contains approximately 5.0 Mbp, with an average G+C content of 42.41% and 5,140 predicted protein-coding genes.
