Doxycycline Adsorptive Interaction with Mesoporous MCM-41: Kinetic and Isotherm Modelling with Thermodynamics

Antibiotics are bio-accumulating and persistent. its inappropriate disposal can affect human health aquatic fauna. Development of antimicrobial resistance has been announced as one the top ten threats to global in 2019. In this study, Doxycycline adsorption on MCM-41 (not reported earlier) was studied. Adsorbent dose (m), solution pH, time (t) temperature (T) were considered process parameters, %Doxycycline removal capacity measured responses adsorption. Parameters (m, pH t) interaction, modelling optimization for performed using Box Behnken Design. Based this, a suitable model equation mechanism suggested. At optimized kinetics rate controlling Further, various isotherm models (Freundlich, Langmuir Redlich-Peterson) studied represent equilibrium experimental data. optimum parameters found be = 7.3, m 0.02 g/L t 20 min. very high 99% with 2425 mg/g observed (max 835.5 is literature). Thermodynamics study revealed enthalpy (ΔH°) 23.02 kJ/mol confirming DCL physisorption MCM-41.
