Doing research into Indigenous issues being non-Indigenous

چکیده

Based on research into Indigenous people and sport, this article discusses the opportunities challenges for a non-Indigenous researcher to study issues. The author shares personal experiences from Sámi sport (Sámi are of North Calotte) compares these with literature relating post-colonial methodologies. It concludes some overarching elements take consideration when researching peoples: reflection including critical self-reflection (as in any qualitative research); reciprocity, respect, dialogue that must benefit under general; awareness about heterogeneity within groups consciousness interface between peoples. Given heterogeneity, interfaces vary.
