In recent decades, philosophers and theologians have become increasingly aware of the extent animal pain suffering, both past present, challenge this poses to God’s goodness justice. As a result, great deal effort has been devoted discussion development theodicies, that is, theodicies aim offer morally sufficient reasons for suffering are in fact reasons. paper, I ask whether there is need go even further than this, by considering should be made extend theodicy include plants as well. Drawing upon ideas found some well work environmental ethicists, three arguments supposing indeed fall within purview theodicy: (1) argument from non-flourishing evil, (2) moral considerability, (3) intrinsic value. also consider possible objection each these arguments. Having outlined defended aforementioned broadening humans animals, conclude what plant might look like.
