چکیده
The Omega class of glutathione transferases (GSTs) forms a distinct within the cytosolic GST superfamily because most them possess catalytic cysteine residue. human 1 isoform was first characterized twenty years ago, but it took work to clarify roles isoforms. Concerning kingdom fungi, little is known about cellular functions (GSTOs), although they are widely represented in some these organisms. In this study, we re-assess phylogeny and classification GSTOs based on 240 genomes mushroom-forming fungi (Agaricomycetes). We observe that number not only extended order Polyporales also other orders such as Boletales. Our analysis leads new which fungal divided into two Types A B. residue Type-A either or serine, while Type-B cysteine. present study focuses Trametes versicolor GSTO isoforms Transcriptomic data show constitutive enzymes inducible ones. crystallographic reveals substantial structural differences between types have similar biochemical profiles tested conditions. Additionally, ability bind antioxidant molecules wood polyphenols possible binding sites observed from X-ray structures. multiplication could allow organisms adapt more easily environments.

Widespread polycistronic transcripts in mushroom-forming fungi revealed by single-molecule long-read mRNA sequencing
Genes in prokaryotic genomes are often arranged into clusters and co-transcribed into polycistronic RNAs. Isolated examples of polycistronic RNAs were also reported in some eukaryotes but their presence was generally considered rare. Here we developed a long-read sequencing strategy to identify polycistronic transcripts in several mushroom forming fungal species including Plicaturopsis crispa, ...
متن کاملGlutathione transferases: a structural perspective.
The glutathione transferases (GSTs) are one of the most important families of detoxifying enzymes in nature. The classic activity of the GSTs is conjugation of compounds with electrophilic centers to the tripeptide glutathione (GSH), but many other activities are now associated with GSTs, including steroid and leukotriene biosynthesis, peroxide degradation, double-bond cis-trans isomerization, ...
متن کاملAutomated phylogenetic taxonomy: an example in the homobasidiomycetes (mushroom-forming fungi).
Systematists confront a truly formidable task, which is to construct a comprehensive, phylogenetically accurate classification for all of life. Progress toward this goal has accelerated in recent years through analyses of DNA and protein sequences. The dramatic growth of molecular phylogenetics prompts us to ask whether established taxonomic practices are equipped to deal with the rapidly accum...

Homobasidiomycetes include approximately 13,000 described species of mushroom-forming fungi and related taxa. The higher-level classification of this ecologically important group has been unsettled for over 100 years. The goals of the present study were to evaluate a recent phylogenetic classification by Hibbett and Thorn that divided the homobasidiomycetes into eight major unranked clades, and...
