چکیده
Bryophilous fungi associated with two bryophyte species in the region of delta Tamil Nadu that is, mosses Polytrichum commune and Bryum capillare (Ptychostomum capillare) were studied during winter season. These bryophytes Desiccation-Tolerance Bryophytes plant (DTB), ability to lose virtually all free intracellular water then recover normal function upon rehydration is one most remarkable features bryophytes. Our aims identify bryophilous fungi/ endophytic using morphological taxonomy, explore richness estimate frequency bryophytes, Nadu. We collected samples at old building wall, bricks localities on region. thus identified 32 isolated from these plants tissues. In total, fungal strains belonging Ascomycetes (04), Coeleomycetes (02), Hyphomycetes (20), sterile forms Yeast like (02) Zygomycetes taxa obtained. Thus RPO diversity index suggest our study still underestimate endophytes because it does not provide complete samples. results recommend presence a diverse range even very limited area, those this environment. To knowledge, first report DT tropical

Programming desiccation-tolerance: from plants to seeds to resurrection plants.
Desiccation-tolerance (DT) evolved as the key solution to survival on land by the early algal ancestors of terrestrial plants. This 'first' DT involved utilizing rapidly mobilisable repair mechanisms and is still found today in mosses, such as Tortula ruralis, and ferns, such as Mohria caffrorum. The first seed plants lost vegetative DT while investing their seeds with tolerance mechanisms impr...
متن کاملAn Overview of Mechanisms of Desiccation Tolerance in Selected Angiosperm Resurrection Plants
The vegetative tissues of resurrection plants, like seeds, can tolerate desiccation to 5% relative water content (RWC) for extended periods and yet resume full metabolic activity on re-watering. In this review we will illustrate how this is achieved in a variety of angiosperm resurrection plants, our studies ranging from the ecophysiological to the biochemical level. At the whole plant level, l...
متن کاملGroup A PP2Cs evolved in land plants as key regulators of intrinsic desiccation tolerance
Vegetative desiccation tolerance is common in bryophytes, although this character has been lost in most vascular plants. The moss Physcomitrella patens survives complete desiccation if treated with abscisic acid (ABA). Group A protein phosphatases type 2C (PP2C) are negative regulators of abscisic acid signalling. Here we show that the elimination of Group A PP2C is sufficient to ensure P. pate...
متن کاملFreezing and desiccation tolerance in entomopathogenic nematodes: diversity and correlation of traits.
The ability of entomopathogenic nematodes to tolerate environmental stress such as desiccating or freezing conditions, can contribute significantly to biocontrol efficacy. Thus, in selecting which nematode to use in a particular biocontrol program, it is important to be able to predict which strain or species to use in target areas where environmental stress is expected. Our objectives were to ...

Recombinant sucrose-6-phosphate synthase (SpsA) was synthesized in Escherichia coli BL21DE3 by using the spsA gene of the cyanobacterium Synechocystis sp. strain PCC 6803. Transformants exhibited a 10,000-fold increase in survival compared to wild-type cells following either freeze-drying, air drying, or desiccation over phosphorus pentoxide. The phase transition temperatures and vibration freq...
