Diversity and Regional Variation of Endosymbionts in the Green Peach Aphid, Myzus persicae (Sulzer)

چکیده
The green peach aphid, Myzus persicae, is globally distributed and an important pest of many economically valuable food crops, largely due to its ability transmit plant viruses. Almost all aphids, including M. carry the obligate symbiont Buchnera aphidicola, which provides essential amino acids that aphids cannot obtain from phloem plants themselves. Many also harbor facultative (secondary) endosymbionts, provide benefits under specific ecological conditions. In this study, we screened for secondary endosymbionts in with a particular focus on Australian populations where species growing status as major agricultural pest. We compared 37 persicae other populations, 21 field China 15 clones UK, France, Italy, Greece, USA, Spain, South Korea, Chile, Japan Zimbabwe. No were identified samples outside China, despite covering wide geographic range being collected several host families. detected two (Rickettsia, Spiroplasma) Chinese samples, although diversity appeared lower than recent study. found very high clonal based DNA microsatellite markers comparison Australia. These patterns may indicate higher (and diversity) native when invasive range.

Myzus persicae Sulzer aphid contains oxylipins that
Oxylipins are oxygenated fatty acids and their derivatives that play key roles in response to stress. They are widespread in many organisms including mammals or plants but are unknown in arthropods. In this study, we identified oxylipins in Myzys persicae Sulzer aphids reared on Vicia faba L. plants. Further experiments based on: (i) Radiolabelled substrate incubation with aphid extracts, and (...
متن کاملA Functional Genomics Approach Identifies Candidate Effectors from the Aphid Species Myzus persicae (Green Peach Aphid)
Aphids are amongst the most devastating sap-feeding insects of plants. Like most plant parasites, aphids require intimate associations with their host plants to gain access to nutrients. Aphid feeding induces responses such as clogging of phloem sieve elements and callose formation, which are suppressed by unknown molecules, probably proteins, in aphid saliva. Therefore, it is likely that aphid...
متن کاملInsecticide Resistance Mechanisms in the Green Peach Aphid Myzus persicae (Hemiptera: Aphididae) II: Costs and Benefits
BACKGROUND Among herbivorous insects that have exploited agro-ecosystems, the peach-potato aphid, Myzus persicae, is recognized as one of the most important agricultural pests worldwide. Uses over 400 plant species and has evolved different insecticides resistance mechanisms. As M. persicae feeds upon a huge diversity of hosts, it has been exposed to a wide variety of plant allelochemicals, whi...
متن کاملCloning and analysis of the esterase genes conferring insecticide resistance in the peach-potato aphid, Myzus persicae (Sulzer).
Full-length cDNA clones encoding the esterases (E4 and FE4) that confer insecticide resistance in the peach-potato aphid [Myzus persicae (Sulzer)] were isolated and characterized. The E4 cDNA contained an open reading frame of 1656 nucleotides, coding for a protein of 552 amino acids. The FE4 cDNA shared 99% identity with E4 over this region, the most important difference being a single nucleot...
متن کاملMicrosatellite isolation, linkage group identification and determination of recombination frequency in the peach-potato aphid, Myzus persicae (Sulzer) (Hemiptera: Aphididae).
Fifteen polymorphic microsatellite markers were used to establish linkage groups and relative rates of recombination in male and female Myzus persicae (Sulzer) (Hemiptera: Aphididae) (peach-potato aphid). We cloned nine markers from M. persicae and for these we report primer sequences and levels of allelic diversity and heterozygosity in four Australian M. persicae populations. Of the remaining...
