DIVERSE STRESS TREATMENTS AND ACINETOBACTER BAUMANNII PERSISTER FORMATION

چکیده

This study was aimed to investigate diverse stress treatments on Imipenem susceptible A. baumannii for persister cells formation. Isolates were assessed presence by colony forming unit counting (CFU/ml) after exposure (10 µg/ml) in and absence of acid treatment (pH 6) 0-7 hr. In- vitro activity curcumin synergize kill investigated. The frequency hicAB relEB type II toxin- antitoxin (TA) loci evaluated polymerase chain reaction. transcription level hicA relE toxin genes quantitative reverse transcriptase persistence varied between isolates across the conditions. treated gave fraction 0.07% 0.4% whereas + pH6 0.3% 0.7% initial untreated population. No significant reduction observed combination with (P value > 0.05). detected 100% 61.5% isolates, respectively. triggered gene while cells.

Heterogeneous Persister Cells Formation in Acinetobacter baumannii

Bacterial persistence is a feature that allows susceptible bacteria to survive extreme concentrations of antibiotics and it has been verified in a number of species, such as Escherichia coli, Pseudomonas aeruginosa, Staphylococcus spp., Mycobacterium spp. However, even though Acinetobacter baumannii is an important nosocomial pathogen, data regarding its persistence phenotype are still lacking....

Biofilm formation in Acinetobacter baumannii.

Acinetobacter baumannii has received much attention in recent years because of its increasing involvement in a number of severe infections and outbreaks occurring in clinical settings, and presumably related to its ability to survive and persist in hospital environments. The treatment of infections caused by A. baumannii nosocomial strains has become increasingly problematic, due to their intri...

Iron and Acinetobacter baumannii Biofilm Formation

Acinetobacter baumannii is an emerging nosocomial pathogen, responsible for infection outbreaks worldwide. The pathogenicity of this bacterium is mainly due to its multidrug-resistance and ability to form biofilm on abiotic surfaces, which facilitate long-term persistence in the hospital setting. Given the crucial role of iron in A. baumannii nutrition and pathogenicity, iron metabolism has bee...

Acinetobacter baumannii

Acinetobacter baumannii is an opportunistic bacterial pathogen primarily associated with hospital-acquired infections. The recent increase in incidence, largely associated with infected combat troops returning from conflict zones, coupled with a dramatic increase in the incidence of multidrug-resistant (MDR) strains, has significantly raised the profile of this emerging opportunistic pathogen. ...

Biofilm Formation and β-lactamase Enzymes: A Synergism Activity in Acinetobacter baumannii Isolated from Wound Infection

Background and Objective: Biofilm formation plays a crucial role in wound infections and increases the bacteria resistance to treatment. The present study investigated the relationship between the biofilm formation, ESBL, AmpC, and KPC enzymes in Acinetobacter baumannii isolated from the wound specimens. Materials and Methods: Eighty- nine A. baumannii isolates were collected from wound specim...
