چکیده
Background: The purpose of this research was to investigate the diurnal effect Ramadan fasting on amplitude accommodation and anterior segment parameters in visually healthy participants.Materials Methods: study included 68 individuals, aged 26–42 years. subjective measured using "minus lens" technique. Corneal refraction (K1, K2, Kmax), central corneal thickness, volume, chamber depth were evaluated Scheimpflug camera system. Participants twice, at 08:00 16:00, while during Ramadan. Data analyzed by paired sample t-test.Results: mean age participants, which 28 women 40 men, 34.38±4.93 (range: 26–42). Comparison measurements taken 16:00 showed that K1 values (08:00: 42.81±1.51 diopter 16:00: 42.85±1.50 diopter, P = 0.016) Kmax 44.29 ± 1.73 44.38±1.78 0.020) significantly steeper. When data collected 08.00 16.00 compared, there no significant differences changes: 7.39±1.40 7.37±1.40 0.783), thickness 535.60 30.43 µm 535.25±30.66 µm, 0.694), volume 59.72±3.85 mm3 59.60±3.98 mm3, P= 0.344), (08.00: 170.91±30.77 16.00: 171.22±32.61 0.808) 2.91 0.28 mm 2.92 0.29 mm, 0.053).Conclusions: results dehydration due affects some parameters, such as refraction; however, it does not affect changes accommodation, pachymetry, or anatomy.

Anterior Segment Changes during Accommodation in Accommodative Esotropia
PURPOSE To evaluate the anterior segment biometric parameters of non-accommodative and accommodative refractive accommodative esotropia (RAE). METHODS Eighty-one eyes of 81 patients were included in this prospective, case-control study. The patients were divided into three groups as follows: the RAE group (n = 31), the hypermetropia group (n = 25), and the emmetropia group (n = 25). Measureme...

PURPOSE We investigated the dynamic response of human accommodative elements as a function of age during accommodation using synchronized spectral domain optical coherence tomography devices (SD-OCT). METHODS We enrolled 33 left eyes from 33 healthy subjects (age range, 20-39 years, 17 males and 16 females). Two SD-OCT devices were synchronized to simultaneously image the anterior segment thr...
متن کاملThe Effects of Ramadan Fasting on Anterior Segment Parameters, Visual Acuity and Intraocular Pressures of the Eye
OBJECTIVE It is aimed to determine whether fasting during Ramadan has any significant effect on anterior chamber parameters, visual acuity and intraocular pressures. METHODS 31 fasting (Group 1) and 30 non-fasting healthy volunteers (Group 2) were enrolled. All cases underwent an ophthalmological examination and anterior segment parameter evaluation (central corneal thickness (CCT), anterior ...

Purpose: There are a few researches regarding the effects of Islamic fasting on visual system. The aim of this study was to investigate the effects of Ramadan fasting on the amplitude of accommodation (AA), near point of convergence (NPC), positive and negative fusional vergences (PFV and NFV, respectively) in visually healthy fasters. Methods: AA, NPC, PFV and NFV at far (6m) and near (40cm) w...
