Distribution of Liquid Mass in Transient Sprays Measured Using Laser-Plasma-Driven X-Ray Tomography

We report, the use of laser-plasma-driven x rays to reveal three-dimensional (3D) structure a highly atomizing water spray. Soft approximately 5 keV are generated by means laser-plasma accelerator. Transmission radiography measurements performed at different angles, rotating multihole injector. Using computer tomography, local liquid volume distribution and its spatial variation retrieved in 3D, showing up 55% fraction nozzle outlet, which decreases below 7% within only 1 mm. The resolution is 0.5% while radiographic images $11.5\phantom{\rule{0.2em}{0ex}}\ensuremath{\mu}\mathrm{m}$. x-ray source used here provides successful mass over relatively large very promising for analysis variety challenging transient spray systems, e.g., injection synthetic biofuels future clean-combustion applications.
