Distinguishing water salinity threshold through irrigation for maize (Zea mays L.) growth and yield

چکیده
Abstract Irrigation with water containing salt in excess can affect crop development. This be due to unsustainable irrigation or the itself had higher content. Water scarcity around globe may also lead using that contains salt. Thus this research was conducted determine threshold value of salinity enable maize maintain acceptable growth and measure yield saline water. Treatments laid out a Completely Randomized Block (CRD) which consisted five replications; T0 (control): tap water, T1: 1.5 dS/m (750 ppm), T2: 2.5 (1250 ppm) T3: 3.5 (1750 sodium chloride (NaCl). Results showed much greater effect on rate. Factors were more significantly affected by plant height, leaf area, dry weight, corn length, diameter cob. study proven saltwater started at could maize. However, dS/m, still positive yield. Eventhough, reduce production, it is feasible for grow certain level salinity. Therefore, cultivation concentration considered regimes agriculture areas experience scarcity.

Agrobacterium tumefaciens-mediated transformation is an effective method for introducing genes into maize. In this chapter, we describe a detailed protocol for genetic transformation of the maize genotype Hi II. Our starting plant material is immature embryos cocultivated with an Agrobacterium strain carrying a standard binary vector. In addition to step-by-step laboratory transformation proced...

The root pressure probe was used to determine the effects of salinity on the hydraulic properties of primary roots of maize (Zea mays L. cv Halamish). Maize seedlings were grown in nutrient solutions modified by additions of NaCl and/or extra CaCl(2) so that the seedlings received one of four treatments: Control, plus 100 millimolar NaCl, plus 10 millimolar CaCl(2), plus 100 millimolar NaCl plu...

Germination and early growth of maize Sweet Maize (Zea mays L.), var. (SEL. CONETA) under irrigation with saline water were investigated in a pot experiment with different soil types. Seven salinity levels of irrigation water up to 12 dS/m were used on a Clay soil (C) and a Sandy-Loam (SL). Emergence of maize was delayed under irrigation with saline water, and the final percentage of germinatio...
