HYPOTHESIS TESTING FOR AN EXCHANGEABLE NORMAL DISTRIBUTION
Consider an exchangeable normal vector with parameters ????2, and ?. On the basis of a vector observation some tests about these parameters are found and their properties are discussed. A simulation study for these tests and a few nonparametric tests are presented. Some advantages and disadvantages of these tests are discussed and a few applications are given.
متن کاملA New Method for Sperm Detection in Infertility Cure: Hypothesis Testing Based on Fuzzy Entropy Decision
In this paper, a new method is introduced for sperm detection in microscopic images for infertility treatment. In this method, firstly a hypothesis testing function is defined to separate sperms from plasma, non-sperm semen particles and noise. Then, some primary candidates are selected for sperms by watershed-based segmentation algorithm. Finally, candidates are either confirmed or rejected us...
متن کاملFrequentist Hypothesis Testing with Background Uncertainty
We consider the standard Neyman-Pearson hypothesis test of a signal-plus-background hypothesis and background-only hypothesis in the presence of uncertainty on the background-only prediction. Surprisingly, this problem has not been addressed in the recent conferences on statistical techniques in high-energy physics – although the its confidence-interval equivalent has been. We discuss the issue...
متن کاملA New Method for Root Detection in Minirhizotron Images: Hypothesis Testing Based on Entropy-Based Geometric Level Set Decision
In this paper a new method is introduced for root detection in minirhizotron images for root investigation. In this method firstly a hypothesis testing framework is defined to separate roots from background and noise. Then the correct roots are extracted by using an entropy-based geometric level set decision function. Performance of the proposed method is evaluated on real captured images in tw...
متن کاملLong-distance dispersal: a framework for hypothesis testing.
Tests of hypotheses about the biogeographical consequences of long-distance dispersal have long eluded biologists, largely because of the rarity and presumed unpredictability of such events. Here, we examine data for terrestrial (including littoral) organisms in the Pacific to show that knowledge of dispersal by wind, birds and oceanic drift or rafting, coupled with information about the natura...
