Discrete Affine Wavelet Transforms
In this paper we show that discrete affine wavelet transforms can provide a tool for the analysis and synthesis of standard feedforward neural networks. It is shown that wavelet frames for L2(IR) can be constructed based upon sigmoids. The spatia-spectral localization property of wavelets can be exploited in defining the topology and determining the weights of a feedforward network. Training a ...
متن کاملOn Using Toeplitz and Circulant Matrices for Johnson-Lindenstrauss Transforms
The Johnson-Lindenstrauss lemma is one of the corner stone results in dimensionality reduction. It says that given N , for any set of N vectors X ⊂ Rn, there exists a mapping f : X → Rm such that f(X) preserves all pairwise distances between vectors in X to within (1 ± ε) if m = O(ε lgN). Much effort has gone into developing fast embedding algorithms, with the Fast JohnsonLindenstrauss transfor...
متن کاملContinuous and Discrete Wavelet Transforms
Rob A. Zuidwijk CWI E-mail: [email protected] Url: http://www.cwi.nl/cwi/projects/wavelets.html November 6, 1997 Abstract In this lecture, the continuous wavelet transform will be discussed and some attention will be given to the discrete wavelet transform. Finally, wavelet transforms on multidimensional data will be considered. The set-up of the lecture is as follows: 1. The continuous wavelet t...
متن کاملWavelet transforms for discrete - time periodic signalsJohn
Wavelet transforms for discrete-time periodic signals are developed. In this nite-dimensional context, key ideas from the continuous-time papers of Daubechies and of Cohen, Daubechies, and Feauveau are isolated to give a concise, rigorous derivation of the discrete-time periodic analogs of orthonormal and symmetric biorthogonal bases of compactly supported wavelets. These discrete-time periodic...
متن کاملToeplitz transforms of Fibonacci sequences
We introduce a matricial Toeplitz transform and prove that the Toeplitz transform of a second order recurrence sequence is another second order recurrence sequence. We investigate the injectivity of this transform and show how this distinguishes the Fibonacci sequence among other recurrence sequences. We then obtain new Fibonacci identities as an application of our transform.
