چکیده
To assess the mechanical response under traffic of asphalt mixtures, a typical practice is to perform complex modulus test. In this work, test reproduced numerically for an mixture by 3D simulations carried out with LMGC90 code. A viscoelastic contact law used handle interaction between particles irregular shapes. The numerical aggregates were generated using particle size distribution (PSD), flakiness index (FI), and statistic data actual aggregates, without imaging techniques. Experimental testing campaigns conducted on trapezoidal samples in two-point bending (2PB) configuration. model was able reproduce performances obtained during experimental tests, regarding properties material. influence shape considering aggregate analysed.

Hot Mix Asphalt Dynamic Modulus Prediction Using Kernel Machines
This paper explores the feasibility of applying support vector regression (SVR) kernel-based supervised learning method to develop hot mix asphalt (HMA) dynamic modulus (|E*|) predictive models. SVR-based prediction models were developed using the latest comprehensive |E*| database that is available to the researchers. The SVR model predictions were compared with the existing regression-based p...
متن کاملDigital filters for Hot-Mix Asphalt Complex Modulus Test Data Using Genetic Algorithm Strategies
The dynamic or complex modulus test is considered to be a mechanistically based laboratory test to reliably characterize the strength and load-resistance of Hot-Mix Asphalt (HMA) mixes used in the construction of roads. The most common observation is that the data collected from these tests are often noisy and somewhat non-sinusoidal. This hampers accurate analysis of the data to obtain enginee...
متن کاملAdvanced approaches to hot-mix asphalt dynamic modulus prediction
The dynamic modulus (|E*|) is one of the primary hot-mix asphalt (HMA) material property inputs at all three hierarchical levels in the new Mechanistic-empirical pavement design guide (MEPDG). The existing |E*| prediction models were developed mainly from regression analysis of an |E*| database obtained from laboratory testing over many years and, in general, lack the necessary accuracy for mak...

Cross-linked polyethylene (XLPE) is an appropriate insulating material for high-voltage cables which has been widely used as electrical cable coating. In this study, Crushed XLPE wastes with different volume percentages (25, 50, and 75%) were used in hot mix asphalt (HMA) as a substitute for fine aggregates remained on sieve no. 8 whose size varies from 1.18 to 2.36 mm. The dynamic stiffness (i...

The primary objective of this study is to develop a simplified Hot Mix Asphalt (HMA) dynamic modulus (|E*|) prediction model with fewer input variables compared to the existing regression based models without compromising prediction accuracy. ANN-based prediction models were developed using the latest comprehensive |E*| database that is available to the researchers containing 7,400 data points ...
