چکیده
For micro air vehicles (MAV), the precise prediction of aerodynamic force plays an important role. The a comparative low Reynold number (Re) vehicle tends to be affected by different flow modes. In this paper, performance three-dimensional NACA0012 airfoil is studied numerically. A range angles attack ( α) 0°−25° and Reynolds 1000 considered. Mean fluctuating coefficients forces around are analyzed for wake difference between two simulations compared. results show that remains steady two-dimensional lower attack. At α = 9°, Von Karman vortex pattern noticed. Flow transition as angle increases from 13°. 3D found stable with parallel shedding mode 14°-17°. However, these modes become finer gradual increase in incidence. While, loses its stability chaotic increment afterwards.

Direct Numerical Simulations of Three-Dimensional Cavity Flows
Three-dimensional direct numerical simulations of the full compressible Navier–Stokes equations are performed for cavities that are homogeneous in the spanwise direction. The formation of oscillating spanwise structures is observed inside the cavity. We show that this 3D instability arises from a generic centrifugal instability mechanism associated with the mean recirculating vortical flow in t...

Direct Numerical Simulation of Flows over an NACA-0012 Airfoil at Low and Moderate Reynolds Numbers
Direct numerical simulations (DNS) of flow over an NACA-0012 airfoil are performed at a low and a moderate Reynolds numbers of Rec=50*10 and 1*10. The angles of attack are 5 and 15 degrees at the low and the moderate Reynolds number cases respectively. The three-dimensional unsteady compressible Navier-Stokes equations are solved using higher order compact schemes. The flow field in the low Rey...
متن کاملOn the Inclusion of Three-dimensional Effects in Simulations of Two-dimensional Bluff-body Wake Flows
Unsteady flow past a circular cylinder at a Reynolds number of 300 has been simulated. The spanwise extent of the computational domain has been systematically varied from zero (2-D) to a large value of 12&, where 4 is the spanwise wavelength of the fundamental mode-B 3-D instability (Williamson, 1996). Simulations with intermediate spanwise extent of 4 and U, have also been performed so as to i...
متن کاملDirect numerical simulations of three-dimensional flows past obstacles with a vortex penalization method
A vortex method with penalization is proposed in order to simulate three-dimensional incompressible bluff body flows. This approach combines the robustness of vortex methods and the flexibility of penalization methods to impose boundary conditions on the obstacle. Far field boundary conditions are handled in a FFT-based Poisson solver. A validation of the proposed numerical method is carried ou...
