Direct Model Predictive Control of Noninverting Buck-boost DC-DC Converter

In this paper, direct model predictive control (DMPC) of the noninverting buck-boost DC-DC converter with magnetic coupling between input and output is proposed. Unlike most other converters, subject has advantage exhibiting minimum phase behavior in boost mode. However, a major issue that arises classical dead zone near transition buck The reason for practically unrealizable duty cycles, which are close to zero or unity, pulse width modulation (PWM) region. To overcome issue, we propose use DMPC. DMPC, switches manipulated directly by controller without need PWM. Thereby, avoiding altogether. DMPC also offers several advantages over techniques include optimality explicit current constraints. Simulations proposed technique on show been successfully avoided. Moreover, simulations results significantly improved performance as compared terms response time, reference tracking, overshoot.
