چکیده

Objective. The direct anterior approach (DAA) for total hip arthroplasty (THA) is a surgical procedure gaining increasing popularity among surgeons in the last decade, even previously accustomed to other approaches. This study aimed analyze first cases of THAs single institution, performed by skilled postero-lateral approach. Methods. We retrospectively reviewed 40 THA (38 patients) our institution primary arthritis, between December 1st 2019, and 2020. Patients were matched age, gender, BMI comorbidities. A pair analysis was performed. Results. two groups had no statistically significant differences hospitalization time, six-month patient-reported outcomes measures (PROMs), radiographic measurements. However, difference observed regarding timing. Conclusions. safe feasible technique early experiences.

Direct anterior approach versus posterolateral approach in total hip arthroplasty : one surgeon, two approaches.

Early research shows several advantages of the Direct Anterior Approach (DAA) in total hip arthroplasty (THA), although no studies evaluated the DAA on a regular operating table without using fluoroscopy. We performed a retrospective cohort study on the outcome of this variation of the DAA compared with the posterolateral approach (PLA) with one year follow-up. All procedures were uncemented TH...

Perioperative Comparison of Hip Arthroplasty Using the Direct Anterior Approach with the Posterolateral Approach

Purpose The aim of the current study is to report the advantage and disadvantage of total hip arthroplasty performed in direct anterior approach (DAA) by comparing it to the posterolateral approach (PLA). Materials and Methods Twenty-five hip arthroplasty done in DAA (12 total hip arthroplasty [THA] and 13 bipolar hemiarthroplasty [BHA]) were compared with the same number done in PLA (13 THA ...

The direct anterior approach: initial experience of a minimally invasive technique for total hip arthroplasty

BACKGROUND Less invasive approaches for hip arthroplasty have been developed in order to decrease traumatisation of soft tissue and shorten hospital stay. However, the benefits with a new technique can be at the expense of a new panorama of problems. This manuscript describes, with emphasis on postoperative complications, our experience from the first 200 cases of unilateral hip replacement usi...

Simultaneous Bilateral Anterior Approach Total Hip Arthroplasty.

Simultaneous bilateral total hip arthroplasty (THA) has been performed successfully, with good outcomes and low complication rates reported. Most published studies on the topic used anterolateral or posterior surgical approaches. The anterior approach is performed under live fluoroscopy with the patient supine, obviating the need for patient repositioning during bilateral surgery. The authors r...

Direct anterior total hip arthroplasty.

The direct anterior approach to hip arthroplasty has become a popular technique. This technique, which was described almost 70 years ago, allows the surgeon to approach the hip through an internervous and intermuscular plane. Preliminary studies show that direct anterior hip arthroplasty may allow patients to recover faster with a lower dislocation rate. It is helpful to understand the history,...
