Dimensions of human security and socio-economic development in Ilorin metropolis, Kwara State, Nigeria

Insecurity has become an important challenge to global human development. While wars among countries have reduced in the 21st century compared previous centuries, civil and other forms of internal violence conflicts continued devastating effects on populations. This paper aims examine relationship between aspect security socio-economic development Ilorin metropolis. Primary data were sourced through structured questionnaire coupled with personal interviews elicit responses work on. Secondary from published documents National Population Commission State Bureau Statistics, journals, relevant literatures. Data collected analysed using Z-score, Lorenz curve, Regression analyses. The study reveals that present adaptive institutional strategies aimed at mitigating insecurity area are rather insufficient. Using widest bow level disparity is 18%, depicting a pattern conclusion many sampled respondents still find it hard satisfy their basic needs environment socially acceptable standards. Given this, following recommendations made improve quality life Ilorin. Policy makers should be committed task advancing well-being urban dwellers. Government help by implementing policies addressing especially provision infrastructural facilities, employment opportunities thereby helping shape income diversification.
