Dimensionless approach of a polymer electrolyte membrane water electrolysis: Advanced analytical modelling

The water electrolysis appears as a sustainable solution for hydrogen production. proton exchange membrane electrolyzers (PEM-E) play an increasingly important role in the development of technology. Fast analysis PEM-E efficiency using mathematical approach is effective tool improvement these devices. This work presents closed-form single cell modelling. considers charge and mass transport balances. one-dimensional study focuses on anodic cathodic catalyst layer only dimensionless parameters. analytical model allows to describe management function pressure gradient current density ratio process (?m,). endorsed by experimental data. Dimensionless parameters like Thiele modulus (?a,c) or Wagner number (?a,C) are reached numerical optimization methods. Changing values numbers, allow observation impact two-phase flow regimes electrochemical performances.
