Digital archaeological knowledge production and communication among metal detectorists: A web focus group discussion

As digital tools develop and become more openly available, not only archaeologists but also other groups that have an interest in archaeological heritage the past are taking ideas into use their research practices. One such group with particular interests is hobbyist metal detectorists. Although hobby has been around some countries since as early 1960s, it clear developments – from state-sanctioned infrastructures emerging national finds recording databases, to detectorist adoption of social media platforms for sharing information having a profound effect on hobbyists knowledge production In this article, we present discuss our findings web focus carried out detectorists seven different northern eastern European countries.
