چکیده
The purpose of this study is to examine the diffusion and thermal shock behaviour alternative dental silicates. samples derived from BaO-SiO2 system have been produced by melting process followed heat treatment. X-ray examinations indicated that amount orthorhombic sanbornite phase rised due treatment temperature as revealed peak intensities. alteration morphology was evident scanning electron microscopy SEM images. Crystallization at low small crystallites coarsening not observed with a rise in temperature. failure after test examined using SEM. A continuous crack geometry very few branching were observed. Diffusivity constant (D) rate vs for present system. Diffusion depth (L) doubled when crystallization applied. Based on obtained results, these silicate might take part further characterization studies be used dentistry materials.

Thermal diffusion shock waves.
The Ludwig-Soret effect or thermal diffusion, which refers to the separation of liquid mixtures in a temperature gradient, is governed by a nonlinear, partial differential equation in space and time. It is shown here that the solution to the nonlinear differential equation for a binary mixture predicts the existence of shock waves completely analogous to fluid shocks and obeys an expression for...
متن کاملFracture toughness and thermal shock of tool and turbine ceramics
The behaviour of some commercial tool carbides and turbine ceramics has been investigated in regard to resistance to crack initiation, crack propagation and retained strength after thermal shock. New data are provided, particularly measurements of the fracture toughness of these materials at actual operating temperatures (up to 1200 ~ C). Many of the materials did not follow the generally accep...
متن کاملTHERMAL SHOCK OF REFRACTORIES
Being brittle and having low thermal conductivity, refractories suffer damage and sometimes fail in service as a result of thermal shock. While the approach of those making fine-grained technical ceramics is to make their products sufficiently strong to withstand thermal stresses the refractory technologist is more cunning. He uses, often little known, devices to provide resistance to thermal s...
متن کاملFatigue of dental ceramics.
OBJECTIVES Clinical data on survival rates reveal that all-ceramic dental prostheses are susceptible to fracture from repetitive occlusal loading. The objective of this review is to examine the underlying mechanisms of fatigue in current and future dental ceramics. DATA/SOURCES The nature of various fatigue modes is elucidated using fracture test data on ceramic layer specimens from the denta...
متن کاملPentacoordinate Silicon Complexes as Precursors to Silicate Glasses and Ceramics
The recent discovery that pentacoordinate alkali glycolato silicates such as monomeric MSi(OCH,CH,O),OCH,CH,OH or dimeric M,Si,(OCH,CH,O), (where M = Li, Na, K, or Cs) can be synthesized directly from SO,, ethylene glycol, and MOH suggests that these compounds may serve as useful, inexpensive precursors to alkali silicate glasses or ceramics, either by sol-gel processing or by simple pyrolysis....
