چکیده
Abstract Soil moisture is among the most important factors regulating soil biodiversity and functioning. Models forecast changes in precipitation regime many areas of planet, but how these will influence functioning, biotic drivers modulate such effects, far from being understood. We evaluated responses C N fluxes, microbial properties to different water regimes soils main three ecotypes world's largest diverse tropical savanna. Further, we explored direct indirect effects ecotype on key processes. Soils woodland savanna showed a better nutritional status than other ecotypes, as well higher potential cycling rates, 2 O emissions, bacterial abundance lower richness, whereas CO emissions CH 4 uptake peaked intermediate The also modulated nutrient cycling, greenhouse gas properties, with more intense highlight existence multiple contrasting (via microbes abiotic properties) an intensification C- N-related Our results confirm that fundamental driver functioning Cerrado it can determine processes regime.

Temporal Dynamics of Soil Microbial Communities below the Seedbed under Two Contrasting Tillage Regimes
Agricultural productivity relies on a wide range of ecosystem services provided by the soil biota. Plowing is a fundamental component of conventional farming, but long-term detrimental effects such as soil erosion and loss of soil organic matter have been recognized. Moving towards more sustainable management practices such as reduced tillage or crop residue retention can reduce these detriment...
متن کاملThe Impact of Fluctuating Temperature Regimes on Population Growth; a Comparison between Populations from Contrasting Ecotypes
Natural environments are characterized by daily and seasonal fluctuations in temperature, and ectotherms are expected to adapt to these fluctuations. Moderate temperature fluctuations often accelerate development rate as a result of the Kaufmann effect and possibly additional physiological adaptations. We examined the adaptive potential of ecotype-specific reaction norms by measuring the effect...
متن کاملSensitivity of soil respiration and microbial communities to altered snowfall
Winter respiration is a quantitatively important, yet variable flux of carbon dioxide (CO2) from soils to the atmosphere. Variability in winter soil respiration may be influenced by the effects of snowfall on microbial communities and their metabolic activities. In this study, we evaluated the importance of snowpack depth on soil respiration and microbial communities in a temperate deciduous fo...
متن کاملSoil microbial response to glucose and phosphorus addition under agricultural systems in the Brazilian Cerrado.
Conventional tillage (CT) and no-tillage (NT) management systems alter soil nutrient availability and consequently modify soil microbial response to nutrient additions such as carbon (C) and phosphorus (P). The objective of this study is to evaluate microbial response to the addition of C (glucose) and P (Na2HPO4.7H2O) under CT and NT in the brazilian Cerrado. In response to glucose addition, t...
