چکیده

Background Escherichia coli is among the most common uropathogens. Increased antibiotic resistance in Gram negative bacilli global concern. Alternative therapeutic options including vaccines against uropathogenic E. (UPEC) have been developed. In this study, we compared genotypic characteristics and antimicrobial susceptibility of UPEC according to phylogenetic groups. Methods We retrospectively reviewed medical records pyelonephritis patients with between February 2015 June 2018. The study was conducted at a center Korea. clinical groups 29 virulence factors were identified using multiplex polymerase chain reaction. Results Phylogenetic group analysis revealed that belonged B2 D: (276, 77.7%), D (62, 17.5%), B1 (12, 3.4%), A (5, 1.4%). Among factors, fyuA, fimH, traT, iutA, papG allele II, papC frequently observed. more closely related sfa/focED, focG, hlyA, cnf1, PAI, than D. Groups showed similar presentations complications. Group had mostly healthcare-associated infections resistance. community-acquired infections. K1 serotype prevalent B2, K5 Conclusions proportions types high presentation adhesions toxins. An increased also noted. Considering genetic UPEC, alternative targeting frequent might be considered addition antibiotics.

Virulence characteristics and antimicrobial susceptibility of uropathogenic Escherichia coli strains.

Eight virulence factors associated with uropathogenic Escherichia coli (UPEC) were investigated in 204 clinical isolates of E. coli recovered from urine cultures at counts ≥10(5). The bacteria were classified into two groups according to the number of leukocytes in urine samples from which they were isolated: group I ≤8 leukocytes/hpf, 104 strains; group II >8 leukocytes/hpf, 100 strains....

Determination of the Frequency of Adhesion Virulence Factors in Uropathogenic E. coli (UPEC) Strains Isolated from Hospitalized Patients in Babol

Background and Aims: Uropathogenic E.coli is one of the most known causes of urinary tract infections, which may lead to a high rate of morbidity and mortality in high risk patients. In this regard, the virulence factors such as bacterial adhesion molecules have a critical role. The current study was intended to determine the molecular properties of adhesion genes in Uropathogenic E.coli strain...

Phylogenetic analysis of Escherichia coli strains isolated from human samples

Escherichia coli (E. coli) is a normal inhabitant of the gastrointestinal tract of vertebrates, including humans. Phylogenetic analysis has shown that E. coli is composed of four main phylogenetic groups (A, B1, B2 and D). Group A and B1 are generally associated with commensals, whereas group B2 is associated with extra-intestinal pathotypes. Most enteropathogenic isolates, however, are assigne...

Distribution of uropathogenic virulence factors among Escherichia coli strains isolated from dogs and cats.

A variety of virulence factors (VFs) such as type 1 fimbriae, pilus associated with pyelonephritis, S fimbriae, afimbrial adhesin, alpha-hemolysin, aerobactin and cytotoxic necrotizing factor 1 are associated with uropathogenic Escherichia coli. In this study, 80 uropathogenic E. coli strains in 50 dogs and 30 cats suffering from UTI. In addition, 60 E. coli strains were isolated from fecal sam...

Microbial susceptibility, virulence factors, and plasmid profiles of uropathogenic Escherichia coli strains isolated from children in Jahrom, Iran.

BACKGROUND Urinary tract infections (UTIs), including cystitis and pyelonephritis, are the most common infectious diseases in childhood. Escherichia coli (E. coli) accounts for as much as 90% of the community-acquired and 50% of nosocomial UTIs. Therefore, identification of E. coli strains is important for both clinical and epidemiological implications. Understanding antibiotic resistance patte...
