Differences in the Brain Cortical Thickness and Area of Different Lobes Between Fetuses with Intrauterine Growth Restriction and Controls Based on 3-Tesla Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI)

چکیده
Background: Intrauterine growth restriction (IUGR) is a major factor in long-term perinatal morbidity and associated with abnormal fetal brain development; however, its pattern of involvement remains unknown. Objectives: This study aimed to investigate the effect IUGR on parenchyma. Patients Methods: Forty-two women pregnancy 28 normally grown fetuses at - 38 weeks underwent 3-tesla magnetic resonance imaging (MRI). Cortical thickness was assessed four regions corrected by biparietal diameter/2. Also, whole surface area (WBA) measured, areas six were calculated WBA. Results: In group, cortical insula temporal lobe significantly thinner than control group (0.034 vs. 0.043 0.036 0.047, respectively; P < 0.05); these also showed reduced WBA (P = 0.028). The not different between groups, except for cerebellum hippocampus, which increased as compared (0.147 0.130 0.017 0.0125, 0.05). Conclusion: fetuses, insular cortex smaller found group. Among regions, hippocampus less affected antenatal period.

Segmentation of Magnetic Resonance Brain Imaging Based on Graph Theory
Introduction: Segmentation of brain images especially from magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) is an essential requirement in medical imaging since the tissues, edges, and boundaries between them are ambiguous and difficult to detect, due to the proximity of the brightness levels of the images. Material and Methods: In this paper, the graph-base...
متن کاملImpact of intrauterine growth restriction and glucocorticoids on brain development: insights using advanced magnetic resonance imaging.
There are now a number of evidences showing that the developing organism adapts to the environment it finds itself. Short- and long-term adjustments, referred as "programming", take place and will initially induce intrauterine growth retardation but will also have consequences that will appear later in life. The use of magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) techniques in IUGR babies has delineated ch...
متن کامل3 Tesla magnetic resonance imaging of the brain in newborns.
While it has been hypothesized that brain development is abnormal in schizophrenia and other neurodevelopmental disorders, there have been few attempts to study very early brain development in children. Twenty unsedated healthy newborns underwent 3 Tesla magnetic resonance imaging (MRI), including diffusion tensor imaging (DTI). The left ventricle was significantly larger than the right; female...
