Differences in the Ageing Behavior of Asphalt Pavements with Porous and Stone Mastic Asphalt Mixtures

چکیده
The degradation of bituminous materials as a result ageing has significant effect on asphalt pavement performance. In this study, one porous (PA) section and stone mastic (SMA) were designed constructed in 2014 exposed to the actual environmental condition. To study change pavement’s mechanical properties, cores collected from both test sections annually. stiffness modulus was determined via cyclic indirect tensile tests. investigate behavior across depth, bitumen extracted recovered 13 mm slices along depths cores. chemical composition rheological properties field-recovered bitumen, that original aged standard short- long-term protocols, investigated by means Fourier Transform Infrared (FTIR) spectrometer Dynamic Shear Rheometer. results show mineral aggregate packing, therefore air-void distribution connectivity, sensitivity pavements with time significant, changes PA mixture greater than SMA mixture. addition, there is an gradient inside layer, however, mainly happens surface layer. Finally, laboratory-aged demonstrate weak relation between field laboratory protocols.

Estimation the Fatigue Number of Stone Mastic Asphalt Mixtures Modified with Nano SiO2 and Nano TiO2
Asphalt modification/reinforcement has received considerable attention as viable solutions to enhance flexible pavement performance. This is mainly prompted by the unsatisfactory performance of traditional road materials exposed to dramatic increases and changes in traffic patterns. This paper presents the evaluation of fatigue behaviour of nano reinforced Stone Mastic Asphalt mixtures. Fatigue...
متن کاملStone mastic asphalt: assessing the effect of cellulose fibre additives
& Currently, in the UK, there is considerable interest in the fact that a German bituminous surfacing mixture known as stone mastic asphalt may possess levels of in-service performance that resist the growing incidence of premature failure experienced by traditional materials such as hot rolled asphalt. A high stone content grading requires the use of a stabilizing additive to ensure long-term ...
متن کاملStone Mastic Asphalt Pavement Technology for the New Millennium
Since the 1960s, Stone Mastic Asphalt (SMA) pavement surfaces have been used successfully in Germany on heavily trafficked roads. Because of its excellent performance characteristics, road authorities in Germany as well as major European Countries quickly adopted SMA as a standard wearing course. As a consequence of an asphalt study tour in Europe of an American delegation in 1990, SMA test sec...

متن کاملMacroscopic constitutive law for Mastic Asphalt Mixtures from multiscale modeling
A well established framework of an uncoupled hierarchical modeling approach is adopted here for the prediction of macroscopic material parameters of the Generalized Leonov (GL) constitutive model intended for the analysis of flexible pavements at both moderate and elevated temperature regimes. To that end, a recently introduced concept of a statistically equivalent periodic unit cell (SEPUC) is...
