Dichotomy property of dispersion equation of guided waves propagating in anisotropic composite plates

چکیده

Accurate prediction of dispersion curves for ultrasonic guided waves propagation in multi-layered composite laminates is crucial the deployment nondestructive testing procedures and structural health monitoring algorithms dedicated to aerospace materials. However, existing efforts mainly focused on finding ways build complex-valued equations (see transfer matrix method (TMM), global (GMM) stiffness (SMM) example) with little focus developing efficient stable numerical solving methods associated derived equations. In this paper, conditions under which are either real- or purely imaginary-valued (termed as dichotomy property) both single- plates. With such a property, can be efficiently numerically solved within real number field via standard bisection corrected phase change method. It thus now possible overcome issues frequently reported literature. Besides, parallel computing technique proposed paper improve computational efficiency traditional GMM. The methodology provides new framework solve stable, multipurpose, efficient.

Guided waves propagating in sandwich structures made of anisotropic, viscoelastic, composite materials.

The propagation of Lamb-like waves in sandwich plates made of anisotropic and viscoelastic material layers is studied. A semi-analytical model is described and used for predicting the dispersion curves (phase velocity, energy velocity, and complex wave-number) and the through-thickness distribution fields (displacement, stress, and energy flow). Guided modes propagating along a test-sandwich pl...

Frequency dependent directivity of guided waves excited by circular transducers in anisotropic composite plates.

Lamb wave propagation in fiber-reinforced composite plates is featured by a pronounced directivity of wave energy transfer along the fibers from a point surface source. In the case of non-point (sized) source, the main lobe of radiation diagram may turn with frequency up to the orthogonal to the fibers direction. This effect has been theoretically studied and physically explained in the context...

2 5 M ar 2 00 5 Dispersion Relations for Waves propagating in Composite Fermion Gases

The discrete Uehling-Uhlenbeck equations are solved to study the propagation of plane (sound) waves in a system of composite fermionic particles with hard-sphere interactions and the filling factor (ν) being 1/2. The Uehling-Uhlenbeck collision sum, as it is highly nonlinear, is linearized firstly and then decomposed by using the plane wave assumption. We compare the dispersion relations thus o...

Propagation in Finite Anisotropic Plates of Diffracting Scalar Waves

The model developed in this paper allows to predict the propagation of Lamb waves in an anisotropic wafer. More generally it can account for the linear dispersive propagation of scalar waves in an anisotropic and finite plate and for any local alteration in the displacement component of the Lamb Wave. The validation has been done using a solid-solid contact as an emitter-receiver.
