Diazepam and Its Effects on Postoperative Sequelae of Surgically Extracted Impacted Mandibular Third Molars

Abstract Objective: This study evaluates the role of oral sedation, using 5 mg diazepam, on postoperative sequelae (Pain, trismus and swelling) following impacted mandibular third molar surgery. Materials methods: is a randomised control involving 100 patients whose anxiety levels were assessed with Modified Dental Anxiety Scale (MDAS) just before drug administration thirty minutes after administering either Diazepam or placebo. The facial dimensions maximum interincisal distance measured recorded preoperatively. After that, surgical extraction was done.
