Abstract Ascribing autonomous status to agents is a valuable practice. As such, we ought care about how engage in practices of autonomy ascription. However, disagreement between first-personal experiences an agent's and third-personal determinations their presents challenges ethical epistemic concern. My view that insights from dialogical rather than nondialogical account give us the resources combat associated with I draw on Andrea Westlund's autonomy—on which requires disposition hold oneself answerable external critical perspectives—to make my case.
