Diagnostic utility of cytospin in comparison to cell block in peritoneal and pleural fluid cytology

Background: Fluid cytology plays an important role in delineating benign from malignant effusions, tumor staging, and also diagnosing recurrences. Various methods are used for the preparation of smears. As accurate diagnosis fluids aids clinical decisions, method smears, it is very important. Cytospin smears one which provide higher cellular yield with better preservation morphology less time consuming. On other hand, cell block gives superior architectural details provides options immunocytochemistry. Aims Objectives: The aim this study was to assess diagnostic utility cytospin comparison peritoneal pleural fluid cytology. done determine sensitivity, specificity, predictive values, accuracy preparations considered as gold standard.
