Diagnostic adequacy of FNA and FNB pancreatic lesions performed at St George Hospital

نویسندگان

چکیده

Endoscopic ultrasound-fine needle aspiration (EUS-FNA) is the current primary technique for evaluating pancreatic lesions, with increasing use of fine biopsy (FNB) to obtain larger tissue sample. In this study, we aimed determine diagnostic yield FNA and FNB lesions performed at St George Hospital in a two year period from 2020 2021 inclusive. There were 92 69 performed. The was 86% 87%. This result concordance ranges published literature.

A randomized controlled cross-over trial and cost analysis comparing endoscopic ultrasound fine needle aspiration and fine needle biopsy.

BACKGROUND AND STUDY AIMS Techniques to optimize endoscopic ultrasound-guided tissue acquisition (EUS-TA) in a variety of lesion types have not yet been established. The primary aim of this study was to compare the diagnostic yield (DY) of endoscopic ultrasound-guided fine needle aspiration (EUS-FNA) to endoscopic ultrasound-guided fine needle biopsy (EUS-FNB) for pancreatic and non-pancreatic ...

A meta-analysis of endoscopic ultrasound–fine-needle aspiration compared to endoscopic ultrasound–fine-needle biopsy: diagnostic yield and the value of onsite cytopathological assessment

Background The diagnostic yield of endoscopic ultrasound (EUS) guided fine-needle aspiration (FNA) is variable, and partly dependent upon rapid onsite evaluation (ROSE) by a cytopathologist. Second generation fine-needle biopsy (FNB) needles are being increasingly used to obtain core histological tissue samples. Aims Studies comparing the diagnostic yield of EUS guided FNA versus FNB have reach...

Integrative Cancer Therapy Concept at St. George Hospital, Germany

As if confronting a potentially fatal disease were not depressing enough, many cancer patients also have to face of debilitating side effects induced by chemotherapy and radiation treatment. These range from fatigue and hair loss to life-threatening pneumonia, emboli or a crippling wastage of lean muscle mass. Sometimes conventional treatment and its side effects are more disabling than the dis...

Endoscopic ultrasound fine-needle aspiration vs. fine-needle biopsy: tissue is always the issue

Initially described by Vilmann et al. in 1992 [1], endoscopic ultrasound-guided fine-needle aspiration (EUS-FNA) is a validated diagnostic procedure in the field of gastrointestinal pathology. It is the current standard of care for sampling pancreatic mass lesions, with reported sensitivities ranging from 64% to 95%, specificities from 75% to 100%, and diagnostic accuracies from 78% to 95% [2]....

Endoscopic ultrasound guided fine needle aspiration versus endoscopic ultrasound guided fine needle biopsy in sampling pancreatic masses

BACKGROUND The comparison between endoscopic ultrasound guided fine needle aspiration (EUS-FNA) and endoscopic ultrasound guided fine needle biopsy (EUS-FNB) for the diagnosis of pancreatic masses is still controversial. Many factors can affect the final results. METHODS Databases, such as PubMed, EMBASE, Cochrane Library, and Science Citation Index updated from 2000 to 2016 were searched to ...
