چکیده

Introduction Accurate diagnosis of deep-seated abdominopelvic masses is crucial to distinguish malignant from non-malignant lesions for proper treatment and prognosis. Ultrasonography-guided fine needle aspiration cytology (USG-FNAC) a cost-effective straightforward procedure that offers rapid diagnosis, facilitating early initiation treatment. This study aimed determine the diagnostic accuracy USG-FNAC in comparison biopsy various resource-limited setting. Materials methods prospective enrolled 208 patients with clinically ultrasonographically confirmed over two years. Of these, 64 cases were excluded because non-availability specimens. The remaining 144 comprised 88 males 56 females, male-to-female ratio 1.57:1. Patients’ ages ranged 1.5 65 years, most male aged 51 60 years female 41 50 was performed on these using 22G spinal 10cc disposable syringe, no complications reported during procedure. cytological findings compared histopathological results when available. Dry smears stained May-Grunwald-Giemsa stain, while fixed Papanicolaou stain investigation. Results A total had both histological specimens available comparison. overall 90.97%, 91.8% sensitivity lesions, 83.33% benign 85.7% inflammatory lesions. Conclusions provides high masses, making it valuable tool settings. technique allows triaging ancillary immunohistochemical molecular studies, many cases, obviates need more expensive time-consuming procedures like laparotomy open biopsy.
