Diagnostic Accuracy of Bedside Lung Ultrasound and Chest Radiography Compared to Thoracic Computed Tomography in Critically Ill Patients

چکیده
Bedside lung ultrasound (LUS) is being adopted in ICUs, with a higher diagnostic accuracy for consolidation, interstitial syndrome, pleural effusion, and pneumothorax when compared chest radiography (CXR). Compare the performance of LUS CXR detection pathologic abnormalities critically ill patients ICU, using thoracic computed tomography (CT) as gold standard. Prospective descriptive single-center study. Prior to CT, we performed bedside CXR, evaluating hemithoraces characterized them positive or negative each four (consolidation pneumothorax). We decided therapeutic intervention after CT. A total 58 were evaluated. With consolidation was present 100 (89.3%) evaluated hemithoraces, followed by effusion 74 (66.1%), syndrome 40 (35.7%), 4 (3.6%). better than exhibiting significantly sensitivity all conditions. had marginally specificity pneumothorax. In 42 (72%) patients, imaging studies led specific action; 33 (79%) subsequent measure based on information provided LUS. shows diagnosis common conditions could be an alternative CT scans.

Accuracy of lung ultrasound for the diagnosis of consolidations when compared to chest computed tomography
OBJECTIVES Despite emerging evidences on the clinical usefulness of lung ultrasound (LUS), international guidelines still do not recommend the use of sonography for the diagnosis of pneumonia. Our study assesses the accuracy of LUS for the diagnosis of lung consolidations when compared to chest computed tomography (CT). METHODS This was a prospective study on an emergency department populatio...
متن کاملBedside Endoscopic Ultrasound in Critically Ill patients
Background. The aim of this study was to evaluate the role and impact of EUS in the management of critically ill patients. Methods. We retrospectively identified all patients at our institution over a 68-month period in whom bedside inpatient EUS was performed. EUS was considered to have a significant impact if a new diagnosis was established and/or the findings altered subsequent clinical mana...

INTRODUCTION The lung computed tomography (CT) features of acute chest syndrome (ACS) in sickle cell disease patients is not well described, and the diagnostic performance of bedside chest radiograph (CR) has not been tested. Our objectives were to describe CT features of ACS and evaluate the reproducibility and diagnostic performance of bedside CR. METHODS We screened 127 consecutive patient...

background. Intensive care unit (ICU) patients frequently undergo chest radiographs (CXrs). The diagnostic and therapeutic efficacy of routine CXrs are now known to be low, but the discussion regarding specific indications for CXrs in critically ill patients and the safety of abandoning routine CXRs is still ongoing. We performed a survey of Dutch intensivists on the current practice of chest r...
