Diagnosis of Levator Ani Muscle Avulsion in Instrumented Delivery: Meta-analysis
نویسندگان
چکیده
Objective: The objective of this meta-analysis was to establish the rates levator ani muscle (LAM) avulsion in patients after forceps delivery (FD) and vacuum (VD) as assessed by 3D/4D transperineal ultrasound. Methods: A systematic search performed MEDLINE, PubMed, Google Scholar, Embase databases up December 31, 2021. Studies that studied primiparous women diagnosed with LAM ultrasound VD or FD were included. To do meta-analysis, jamovi project program version 2.2 (2021) used. Results: yielded 1225 studies met MeSH criteria, which 26 included review. estimated joint OR for vs. normal vaginal (NVD) 1.93 (95% CI: 1.31–2.86), NVD 5.33 3.78–8.11), 2.36 1.46–3.84). Conclusions: Instrumented favors avulsion. It is not possible whether injury attributable specific instrument type involved instrumentation itself.

Is the Puborectalis Muscle Part of the Levator Ani Muscle?
1 on the anatomy of the levator ani, and especially the puborectalis muscle by use of MRI and CT. The authors state that the levator ani has a transverse portion and a vertical portion and that the puborectalis muscle is a u-shaped muscle outside the vertical portion. Based on those findings, the authors conclude that the puborectalis is not a part of the levator ani muscle. The concept that th...

OBJECTIVE We describe a new parameter based on magnetic resonance 3-dimensional (3D) reconstructions proposed to evaluate levator ani muscle (LAM) laxity in women with pelvic organ prolapse (POP). STUDY DESIGN This is an institutional review board-approved, retrospective chart review of 35 women with POP, stages I-IV. The 3D Slicer software package was used to perform 2-dimensional and 3D mea...
متن کاملReinnervation of the rat levator ani muscle after neonatal denervation.
After axonal injury on postnatal day 14 (P14), but not P21, motoneurons in the spinal nucleus of the bulbocavernosus (SNB) do not display their normal response to circulating testosterone levels. This could result from a permanent disruption of communication between motoneurons and their testosterone-sensitive target muscles. We assessed the extent of reinnervation of one of these target muscle...
متن کاملAvulsion of the Levator Ani in a Young Adult Male by Blunt Trauma
A young adult male equestrian sustained an avulsion of his levator ani muscle and its bony origin secondary to a horse landing on his groin. Avulsion of the levator ani muscle has, to our knowledge, only been described in obstetric related injuries. We describe the findings on CT imaging of this traumatic blunt injury.
