Diabetes mellitus, obesity, and the placenta: defender or offender

چکیده
The maternal hormonal and metabolic milieu adapt in normal pregnancy to provide the developing fetus with an optimal nutrient supply that is delivered via placenta. This supply, however, disturbed all types of diabetes obesity, resulting greater mixed fetus. Our research suggests placenta limited preventing excess glucose transfer In fact, once becomes hyperinsulinaemic early phases macrosomia, it can accelerate across through a steal phenomenon. placental trophoblast layer does seem be able buffer from fatty acid supply. morphological changes appear determined by severity hyperglycaemia level insulin. Hyperinsulinaemia both mother (early pregnancy) (later obese/diabetic mothers increase growth secondarily fetal growth. Severe pregnancy, disrupt placentation increasing risk for small placenta, gestational hypertensive disorders, intrauterine restriction. therefore shows defender offender roles response common disorders obesity diabetes.

The placenta and gestational diabetes mellitus.
By its location between maternal and fetal bloodstreams the human placenta not only handles the materno-fetal transport of nutrients and gases, but may also be exposed to intrauterine conditions adversely affecting placental and fetal development. Such adverse conditions exist in pregnancies complicated by gestational diabetes mellitus (GDM), and have been associated with alterations in placent...

Backgrounds: Generally, a prevalence of obesity increasing constantly represents one of major health care and social problems. Many researchers indicate that obesity has a risk factor for type 2 diabetes mellitus (T2DM), but some persons believe that obesity may occur T2DM. GLP-1 and GIP as incretin hormone are secreted in response to ingestion of nutrients. In the circulation, they are rapidly...

It has been shown that in the population as a whole, both the amount of fat in the body and the concentration of glucose in the blood are distributed as a continuum in which there is no clear division into normal and abnormal sub-groups (Sharp, Butterfield & Keen, 1964). The application of fixed criteria in the diagnosis of both obesity and diabetes has therefore been arbitrary, and the inciden...

Gestational diabetes mellitus In a symposium on advances in the understanding of obesity and weight gain during pregnancy, Teresa A. Hillier (Portland, OR) discussed the implications that pregnancy weight gain in gestational diabetes mellitus (GDM) has for the fetus. Much of the discussion following her lecture and those of the other speakers concerned the May 2009 guidelines of the Institute o...
متن کاملObesity and chronic disease: always offender or often just accomplice?
Over a decade ago, the finding of a form of low-grade systemic inflammation ('metaflammation') associated with obesity, insulin resistance and chronic disease proffered a causal explanation for the latter. However, recent work has shown that metaflammation is also associated with several modern lifestyle-related and environmental inducers, with or without obesity. Here, we present accumulating ...
