چکیده

Otolith morphological variability is used as a reliable indicator to discriminate fish that experience different environmental conditions during their lifetimes. The present study examined the effects of developmental temperature (DT) egg and yolk-sac larval period on otolith shape asymmetry Gilthead seabream in later metamorphosis (56–58 days post-hatching, dph) early juvenile stage (93–95 dph). experimental populations were reared at water temperatures (17, 20, or 23 °C DT) from epiboly onset end (5–7 post-fertilization, dpf) then common rearing (20 °C), up trials bilateral analyzed (20–21 mm standard length, SL) (31–32 SL). results elliptic Fourier analysis showed DT significantly affected both stages examined. Furthermore, elevated increased levels otoliths stage. are discussed terms thermally induced long-term changes morphology potential raised wild juveniles.

Environmental Conditioning of Skeletal Anomalies Typology and Frequency in Gilthead Seabream (Sparus aurata L., 1758) Juveniles

In this paper, 981 reared juveniles of gilthead seabream (Sparus aurata) were analysed, 721 of which were from a commercial hatchery located in Northern Italy (Venice, Italy) and 260 from the Hellenic Center for Marine Research (Crete, Greece). These individuals were from 4 different egg batches, for a total of 10 different lots. Each egg batch was split into two lots after hatching, and reared...

The complete mitochondrial genome of the gilthead seabream Sparus aurata L. (Sparidae).

The complete mitochondrial genome of the gilthead seabream Sparus aurata Linnaeus 1758, one of the world's most important mariculture species, was sequenced using next generation sequencing technology. The genome sequence is comprised of 16,652 bp exhibiting the canonical vertebrate mitochondria gene order. Regions of gene overlap, tRNA length, as well as start and stop codon were similar to th...

A role for acidophilic granulocytes in the testis of the gilthead seabream (Sparus aurata L., Teleostei).

In mammals, a complex interaction between the immune and the reproductive systems has been described, in which testicular immune cells produce cytokines and growth factors which modulate gonad functions, while specific gonad cells influence the immune response in this organ. In this study we describe the presence of acidophilic granulocytes in the testis of the hermaphrodite teleost fish gilthe...

Arachidonic acid reduces the stress response of gilthead seabream Sparus aurata L.

In this study the influence of the dietary level of the fatty acid arachidonic acid (ArA, 20:4n-6) was determined on the acute stress response and osmoregulation of adult gilthead seabream Sparus aurata L. Seabream were fed a diet containing either 0.9% or 2.4% of total fatty acids as ArA for 18 days before being subjected to a 5 min period of net confinement. Prior to this stressor, a subgroup...
