Development, Validation and Standardization of Instrument to Measure Statistical Literacy among Universities Undergraduates in Cross River State

The study developed, validated, and standardised a statistical literacy test for university undergraduates in Cross River State, Nigeria. Five research questions were raised to guide this study. adopted an instrumentation design. A stratified sampling technique was used select total of 753 respondents from population 4705 students. Three instruments collect data: the Statistical Literacy Test (SLT), Reasoning (SRT), Anxiety (SAT). Descriptive statistics (means simple percentages), correlational analysis, factor analytical analyse data collected. result showed that only 25 items survived last item assessment. instrument found have strong construct validity as correlation matrix all positively correlated. scale convergence with reasoning but diverged anxiety. reliability be high coefficients 0.81, 0.77, 0.78 respectively, it adjudged reliable. Based on findings study, concluded valid Thus, recommended students' skills should not just computational aspect utilisation knowledge. Statistics lecturers emphasise help students reason think statistically, widely distributed use by researchers psychometricians.
