چکیده

Titanium is one of the most utilized metals for orthopedic implants. This element has excellent mechanical and biological properties. As a strategy to develop new system alloys that do not cause health problems patient, such as Ti-6Al-4V alloy, group been designed meet these expectations. Molybdenum, when associated with titanium, reduces transition temperature from α β phase. Zirconium increases corrosion resistance, decreases melting point, improves alloy's biocompatibility. The beta phase's predominance are desirable biomedical applications due their higher compatibility bone tissue. paper presents preparation as-cast Ti-10Mo-xZr (x= 30, 40, 50 wt%) characterization by measurements density, energy dispersive spectrometry (EDS), x-ray diffraction, optical scanning electron microscope (SEM). density values were than pure titanium zirconium molybdenum. EDS reveal suitable stoichiometry elements no impurities contamination. In diffraction microscopy measurements, it was observed only peaks Ti-alloys promising applications.

TRIBOLOGICAL PROPERTIES OF Ti-Si-Zr ALLOYS

Nowadays titanium alloys are extensively used for aerospace and biomedical applications. However, despite good mechanical properties and excellent corrosion resistance they possess poor wear resistance and a tendency to galling and seizure. In this study the tribological properties of experimental Ti-Si-Zr based alloys were studied using a standard ball-on-disc wear testing system. The wear and...
