Development of injection molding simulation algorithms that take into account segregation

The quality of injection molded products is influenced by several factors: the geometry product, polymer used, mold, technological parameters processing and molding machine itself. For this reason, modelling process computer justified widely used in industry. Modelling, however, complicated complex flow dynamic thermal processes during molding, changes material structure polymer. Various fillers are to modify properties polymer, which an additional challenge for simulation. Processing can cause variation local filler content influences but available software cannot handle distribution yet, reducing accuracy simulations. In project, we investigated behavior polypropylene filled with glass beads molding. tests, prepared mixtures various contents different bead sizes extrusion. We also measured effect parameters, examined segregation fillers. modelled numerically Autodesk Moldflow, calculated from results discrete element modelling. • Segregation increases considerably above particle size 125 μm. caused partially embedded particles. Spherical be torn out frozen layer if it less deep than its radius. algorithm describe expected concentration high accuracy.
