Development of Graphite- and Graphene Reinforced Styrene-Butadiene Rubber

Abstract The environmental impact of rubber waste can be reduced by extending the lifetime products. It achieved developing graphene/rubber nanocomposites with good abrasion resistance. In this paper, we investigated how mixing technologies influence mechanical properties rubber. We added various amounts (0, 1, 5 and 10 phr) graphite graphene to mixtures using a two-roll mill, an internal mixer, single- twin-screw extruder. performed tensile, tear strength Shore A hardness tests on vulcanisates analysed their fracture surfaces scanning electron microscope. Our results show that had better reinforcing effect than graphite. Rubber via extrusion may contribute more severe polymer degradation, though reproducibility is mill or in mixer.
