Development of Directional 14 MeV-Fusion Neutron Detector Using Liquid-Scintillator-Filled Capillaries

Triton burnup studies have been performed in fusion experimental devices to evaluate the confinement performance of 3.5 MeV alpha particles. For this purpose, generation rate deuterium-tritium (D-T)-born 14 neutrons has measured using a scintillating fiber detector. The directionality detector provides excellent selectivity for neutrons; however, lack pulse–shape discrimination (PSD) capability limits high-energy gamma-ray reduction. In study, we developed new neutron with that can discriminate and gamma rays based on PSD technique by filling capillaries liquid scintillator. was evaluated at FNL (Tohoku University, Japan) OKTAVIAN (Osaka Japan). response modeled particle heavy ion transport code system (PHITS). simulation results demonstrated directional fast capability.
