چکیده
This work reports the preparation and characterization of fully bio-based polymer composites with coconut fibers (CFs) as an alternative to wood-plastic (WPCs), typically based on petroleum derived materials. Polyamide 1010 (PA1010) was melt-extruded 20 wt% CFs and, after that, shaped into pieces by injection molding. Four different multi-functionalized compatibilizers were tested increase polymer-fiber interactions subsequent improvement toughness. These consisted two chemically modified vegetable oils, namely maleinized epoxidized linseed oil (MLO ELO) respectively, commercial additives from glycidyl functionality, that is, low-functionality epoxy-based styrene-acrylic oligomer (ESAO) polystyrene-glycidyl methacrylate random copolymer (PS-GMA). The addition all four improved both mechanical thermomechanical properties composites, thus resulting in high-performance composite materials relatively low water uptake. Furthermore, morphology obtained revealed extraordinary embedment biopolymer matrix, which plays a crucial role improving Among compatibilizers, those oils can be considered most interesting ones due they offer more sustainable solution.

Ricinoloxazoline maleinate (OXA) was grafted by melt free radical grafting onto polyolefins and elastomers to produce new compatibilizers for polymer blends. Effects of initial monomer and peroxide concentrations on the degree of grafting, on the amount of residual monomer, and on the side reactions were investigated. Reactive compatibilizers could be prepared with a suitable choice of processi...

The article is focused on analyzing the effect of functionalization and reactive processing on the morphological, thermal, rheological and mechanical properties of composites of isotactic polypropylene (PP), polystyrene (PS), poly(ethylene-vinyl acetate) (EVA), with cellulose fibers, hemp or oat as natural fillers. Both polymers and fibers were modified with bi-functional monomers (glycidyl met...
متن کاملFlexural Behavior of Cementitious Composites Reinforced by Synthetic Fibers
The application of fibers to reinforce cementitious materials is a well-known subject. At first, asbestos fibers are used in industrial process to produce fiber reinforced cement sheets. Thereafter, various types of synthetic fibers are produced and used as asbestos substitutes. The aim of the present work is to evaluate the effect of synthetic fibers on the flexural behavior of cementitious co...
متن کاملSynthesis and Characterization of Polyamide-66/Calcium Carbonate Composites
Polyamide-66(PA66)/CaCO3 micro- and nano-composites were prepared using a polymer solution method at filler loading of 0, 1, 2 and 3 weight percent. Nano-size of CaCO3 was synthesized by micro-emulsion technique. The material was characterized by XRD, SEM, FTIR and UV-VIS techniques. XRD results of composites suggested that CaCO3 particles are found in the amorphous phase of the semi-crystallin...
