چکیده
Arthropod pests are among the biggest problems faced in tomato production worldwide. To overcome losses caused by these pests, one of most sustainable and economical strategies is use resistance introgressed from wild species. We aimed to develop BC3F2 genotypes with high levels zingiberene (ZGB) whitefly (Bemisia tabaci biotype B), South American pinworm (Tuta absoluta), two-spotted spider mite (Tatranychus urticae), accession Solanum habrochaites var. hirsutum (accession PI127826). The quantification ZGB 520 parentals yielded selection five content three low content, which were then infested B. tabaci, T. absolute, urticae. In eight parents, types amounts trichomes on leaves determined. Additionally, molecular markers used identify a higher recurrent genome recovery. results confirmed transfer S. showed that this seems be directly related concentrations presence type IV trichomes.

Linkage Relationships Among Multiple QTL for Horticultural Traits and Late Blight (P. infestans) Resistance on Chromosome 5 Introgressed from Wild Tomato Solanum habrochaites
When the allele of a wild species at a quantitative trait locus (QTL) conferring a desirable trait is introduced into cultivated species, undesirable effects on other traits may occur. These negative phenotypic effects may result from the presence of wild alleles at other closely linked loci that are transferred along with the desired QTL allele (i.e., linkage drag) and/or from pleiotropic effe...
متن کاملResistance to Tomato yellow leaf curl virus accumulation in the tomato wild relative Solanum habrochaites associated with the C4 viral protein.
Tomato yellow leaf curl disease (TYLCD) is a severe threat to tomato crops worldwide and is caused by Tomato yellow leaf curl virus (TYLCV) and several other begomoviruses (genus Begomovirus, family Geminiviridae). Host plant resistance is the best TYLCD control method but limited sources of resistance are available. In this study, two Solanum habrochaites TYLCD-resistance sources, EELM-388 and...
متن کاملGenetic Analysis of Resistance to Meloidogyne chitwoodi Introgressed from Solanum hougasii into Cultivated Potato.
An accession of Solanum hougasii, a wild tuber-bearing potato species native to Mexico, was found to be resistant to races 1 and 2 of Meloidogyne chitwoodi. A resistant selection was selfed and its progeny possessed the same combined resistance uniformly. A selected resistant seedling from the selfed progeny was crossed to cultivated tetraploid potato (S. tuberosum) to form an F hybrid, and was...
متن کاملA novel pathway for sesquiterpene biosynthesis from Z,Z-farnesyl pyrophosphate in the wild tomato Solanum habrochaites.
In the wild tomato Solanum habrochaites, the Sst2 locus on chromosome 8 is responsible for the biosynthesis of several class II sesquiterpene olefins by glandular trichomes. Analysis of a trichome-specific EST collection from S. habrochaites revealed two candidate genes for the synthesis of Sst2-associated sesquiterpenes. zFPS encodes a protein with homology to Z-isoprenyl pyrophosphate synthas...
متن کاملGene expression analysis of Solanum lycopersicum and Solanum habrochaites under drought conditions
Drought is one of the limiting environmental factors that affect crop production worldwide. Understanding the molecular mechanism of drought stress is the key to developing drought tolerant crop. In this experiment we performed expression profiling of tomato plants under water deficit conditions using microarray technology. The data set we generated (available in the NCBI/GEO database under GSE...
