Design and Fabrication of Glucose/O2 Enzymatic Biofuel Cell
Enzyme-based biofuel cells (EBFCs) are systems that use a variety of organic compounds to produce electricity through oxido-reductase enzymes, such as oxidase or dehydrogenase as biocatalysts immobilized on electrodes. In this study, a single-chamber EBFC consisting of carbon electrodes that operating at ambient temperature in phosphate buffer, pH 7 is reported. The EBFC anode was based on gluc...

Enzymatic Glucose Biofuel Cell and its Application
Biofuel cells have received significant attention in the last few decades due to its potential application as alternative energy sources and advantages over conventional fuel cells. This review summarizes different types of glucose biofuel cells with emphasis on enzymatic glucose biofuel cells. Unlike conventional fuel cells, which use fuel such as ethanol, methanol, formic acid, etc. to genera...
متن کاملCholesterol self-powered biosensor.
Monitoring the cholesterol level is of great importance, especially for people with high risk of developing heart disease. Here we report on reagentless cholesterol detection in human plasma with a novel single-enzyme, membrane-free, self-powered biosensor, in which both cathodic and anodic bioelectrocatalytic reactions are powered by the same substrate. Cholesterol oxidase was immobilized in a...
متن کاملSelf-powered biomolecular keypad lock security system based on a biofuel cell.
The enzyme-based keypad lock was integrated with a biofuel cell yielding a self-powered biomolecular information security system. The correct "password" introduced into the keypad lock resulted in the activation of the biofuel cell, while all other "wrong" permutations of the enzyme inputs preserved the "OFF" state of the biofuel cell.
