Developing a Bone Mineral Density Distribution Model to Reduce the Risk for Postoperative Hip Surgery Complications in Racial Minorities: A Research Protocol

نویسندگان

چکیده

Introduction: Racial minorities, including Black and Hispanic populations, suffer more postoperative hip surgery complications relating to fixations replacements than White populations. The goal is use CT scans 3D projections create a bone mineral density distribution model for these racial groups. Methods: A preliminary trial of the proposed methods was conducted ensure reliable data could be obtained. Semi-automatic segmentation left femurs from decedents done in Slicer, followed by mean analysis. Discussion: Preliminary trials show that BMD processing pipeline gives viable results sample groups 5 scans. Future studies with this research protocol will involve larger size inclusion machine learning extensions reduce time Confounding variables not considered also analyzed. Conclusion: streamlined conjunction other imaging software provide an alternative imaging, as well lead development models minorities less representation medical data.

Lower Bone Mineral Density is Associated with Intertrochanteric Hip Fracture

Background: A better understanding of how bone mineral density and vitamin D levels are associated with femoralneck and intertrochanteric hip fractures may help inform healthcare providers. We asked: 1) In patients age ≥ 55 years,is there a difference in quantitative ultrasound of the heel (QUS) t-score between patients with fractures of the femoralneck and those with fractures of the intertroc...

Obesity – a risk factor for postoperative complications in general surgery?

BACKGROUND Obesity is generally believed to be a risk factor for the development of postoperative complications. Although being obese is associated with medical hazards, recent literature shows no convincing data to support this assumption. Moreover a paradox between body mass index and survival is described. This study was designed to determine influence of body mass index on postoperative com...

investigating the feasibility of a proposed model for geometric design of deployable arch structures

deployable scissor type structures are composed of the so-called scissor-like elements (sles), which are connected to each other at an intermediate point through a pivotal connection and allow them to be folded into a compact bundle for storage or transport. several sles are connected to each other in order to form units with regular polygonal plan views. the sides and radii of the polygons are...
