چکیده
Aim: to present a new method for assessing glucose catabolism in brain tissues of healthy volunteers and neurooncology patients. This is MR spectroscopy with resonance frequency deuterium (hydrogen isotope) called metabolic imaging - DMI. Material methods. We searched scientific papers PubMed Google Scholar indexing systems 2017–2022 publicatioin years. Keywords used: spectroscopy, DMI, DMV, PET, non-proton tumor metabolism, Warburg effect tumor, glucose/glucolytic flux/metabolism. Results. 474 articles were analyzed, 21 which used this review. The references list additionaly includes 9 1924–2014 pyublication review covers the history proton multinuclear (phosphorus, carbon, deuterium) development PET diagnostics. described DMI applicability visual quantitative assessment tissue metabolism disorders tumors discussed its future use clinical practice. Conclusion. Compared fluorodeoxyglucose (FDG) provides additional information on during anaerobic glycolysis tumor. can be implemented performed MRI scanners.

متن کاملAltered brain mitochondrial metabolism in healthy aging as assessed by in vivo magnetic resonance spectroscopy.
A decline in brain function is a characteristic feature of healthy aging; however, little is known about the biologic basis of this phenomenon. To determine whether there are alterations in brain mitochondrial metabolism associated with healthy aging, we combined (13)C/(1)H magnetic resonance spectroscopy with infusions of [1-(13)C]glucose and [2-(13)C]acetate to quantitatively characterize rat...
متن کاملMagnetic resonance spectroscopy reveals abnormalities of glucose metabolism in the Alzheimer's brain
Objective Brain glucose hypometabolism is a prominent feature of Alzheimer's disease (AD), and in this case-control study we used Magnetic Resonance Spectroscopy (MRS) to assess AD-related differences in the posterior cingulate/precuneal ratio of glucose, lactate, and other metabolites. Methods J-modulated Point-Resolved Spectroscopy (J-PRESS) and Prior-Knowledge Fitting (ProFit) software was...
متن کاملApplication of Magnetic Resonance Spectroscopy in Neurocognitive Assessment After Head Injury: A Systematic Review
Background: Traumatic brain injury is believed to be a public health disorder with some complications. Post Traumatic Neurocognitive Disorders (PTND) received much attention among these complications because of the high prevalence of mild traumatic brain injuries. On the other hand, advanced neuroimaging is increasingly becoming an exciting modality in the field of traumatic brain injury. Magne...
