چکیده
Abstract We have conducted the first extensive observational survey of several deuterated species in 16 Class 0/I proto-brown dwarfs (proto-BDs) and 4 Flat/Class II brown dwarfs. Observations were obtained with IRAM 30m telescope DCO+ (3-2), DCN DNC N2D+ (3-2) lines. The DCO+/H13CO+, DCN/H13CN, DNC/HN13C ratios are comparatively higher show a narrower range than DCO+/HCO+, DCN/HCN, DNC/HNC ratios, respectively. mean D/H for proto-BDs derived from these molecules ?0.02-3. Both low-temperature gas-phase ion-molecule deuteron transfer grain surface reactions required to explain enhanced deuterium fractionation. very dense cold ($n_{H_{2}} \ge 10^{6}$ cm?3, T ?10 K) interior provide suitable conditions efficient fractionation cores. There is no correlation between CO depletion factor, exception DCN/HCN that strong anti-correlation possibly due difference peak emitting regions HCN molecules. Over wide bolometric luminosities spanning ?0.002–40 L?, we find trend DCO+/HCO+ (r = -0.7) -0.6) nearly constant -0.4) -0.1) lower N2D+/N2H+ 0.6) compared protostars. Only one dwarf shows emission line. No seen evolutionary stage.

The Formation of Low-Mass Protostars and Proto-Brown Dwarfs
The formation of low-mass protostars and especially of brown dwarfs currently are “hot topics” in cool star research. The talks contributed to this splinter session discussed how low in mass and how low in luminosity objects might exist, if these substellar objects show evidence for circum(sub)stellar disks, and how the bottom of the mass function in young clusters after the formation process l...

Context. Mass accretion rate determinations are fundamental for an understanding of the evolution of pre-main sequence star circumstellar disks. Aims. Magnetospheric accretion models are used to derive values of the mass accretion rates in objects of very different properties, from brown dwarfs to intermediate-mass stars; we test the validity of these models in the brown dwarf regime, where the...
متن کاملNon-equilibrium chemistry in the atmospheres of brown dwarfs
Carbon monoxide and ammonia have been detected in the spectrum of Gl 229B at abundances that differ substantially from those obtained from chemical equilibrium. Vertical mixing in the atmosphere is a mechanism that can drive slowly reacting species out of chemical equilibrium. We explore the effects of vertical mixing as a function of mixing efficiency and effective temperature on the chemical ...
متن کاملNon instantaneous mixing: Deuterium burning in very low mass stars and brown dwarfs
We present results from detailed computations focused on chemical mixing in convective regions of very low mass stars (VLMs) and brown dwarfs (BDs) during deuterium burning. Computations are made both in the instantaneous and in the coupled–diffusive mixing schemes to check which mixing is required to treat these phases. The convective timescale is much shorter than the nuclear time scales for ...
متن کاملPulsation Powered by Deuterium Burning in Brown Dwarfs and Very-Low-Mass Stars
Pulsation powered by deuterium burning in brown dwarfs and very low mass stars has been put forth (Palla & Baraffe 2005) as a novel probe of the interiors of these objects in the 1-15 Myr age range. Previous observations have hinted at variability on the expected timescales of a few hours, suggesting but not confinning that the phenomenon is at work in young brown dwarfs. We have recently carri...
