چکیده

Detrital zircon populations of the South Qiangtang terrane (SQT) provide vital information for reconstructing Tethyan evolution Tibetan Plateau but are obscured by undefined affiliation detrital samples and superimposition multiple tectonothermal events. We outlined SQT based on geological mapping collated Cambrian-Triassic to investigate representative populations. Although diachronous strata have distinctive age distributions, Cambrian-Permian record similar ca. 2.50 Ga, 950 Ma, 800 550 Ma populations, which can be used in future studies as Palaeozoic indicators SQT. analyse above data compare them those from adjacent microcontinents (e.g. North terrane, NQT). note that (1) Cambrian-Late Ordovician zircons Upper Triassic yield positive εHf(t) values, suggesting juvenile arc-related magmatism NQT, (2) late NQT both contain Late Devonian-early Carboniferous different Together with previous evolution, we support southward subduction Proto-Tethys oceanic plate opened two back-arc basins between during Cambrian-Ordovician Carboniferous. The former closed Silurian; latter evolved into Palaeo-Tethys Ocean. Subsequently, northward produced early-middle Permian arc slab pull force subducting caused middle-late intraplate opposite passive margin.

East-derived sandstones contain a 23 suite of zircons with a mean age of ca 487 Ma that suggests derivation fr...

Significant seismic anisotropy beneath the southern Lhasa Terrane, Tibetan Plateau

[1] Shear wave splitting measurements using teleseismic PKS, SKKS, and SKS phases recorded by station LSA on the southern part of the Lhasa Terrane of the Tibetan Plateau reveal significant azimuthal anisotropy with a splitting time of up to 1.5 s, a conclusion that is contradictory to previous studies which suggested isotropy or weak anisotropy. In addition, systematic variations of the splitt...

Tectonic evolution of the early Mesozoic blueschist-bearing Qiangtang metamorphic belt, central Tibet

[1] A >500-km-long east-west trending metamorphic belt in the Qiangtang terrane of central Tibet consists of tectonic melange that occurs in the footwalls of Late Triassic–Early Jurassic domal low-angle normal faults. The melange is comprised of a strongly deformed matrix of metasedimentary and mafic schists that encloses lesser-deformed blocks of metabasites, Carboniferous–Triassic metasedimen...

Integrated tectonostratigraphic analysis of the Himalaya and implications for its tectonic reconstruction

The isotope geochronology of isochronously deposited Cambrian strata from different tectonostratigraphic zones of the Himalaya confirms new stratigraphic, sedimentological, and faunal evidence indicating that the Himalaya was a single continental margin prior to collision of India with Asia. Lesser, Greater, and Tethyan Himalaya represent proximal to distal parts of a passive continental margin...
