چکیده
Line-field confocal optical coherence tomography (LC-OCT) is an imaging modality based on a combination of time-domain and reflectance microscopy. LC-OCT provides three-dimensional images semi-transparent samples with spatial resolution ∼ 1 μm. The technique primarily applied to in vivo skin imaging. image contrast arises from the backscattering incident light by sample microstructures, which determined scattering properties sample, characterized coefficient μs anisotropy factor g. Determination of the scattering anisotropy with optical coherence tomography.
In this work we demonstrate measurements with optical coherence tomography (OCT) of the scattering phase function in the backward direction and the scattering anisotropy parameter g. Measurements of the OCT attenuation coefficient and the backscattering amplitude are performed on calibrated polystyrene microspheres with a time-domain OCT system. From these measurements the phase function in the...
متن کاملDetermination of Epithelial Tissue Scattering Coefficient Using Confocal Microscopy
Most models of light propagation through tissue assume the scattering properties of the various tissue layers are the same. The authors present evidence that the scattering coefficient of normal cervical epithelium is significantly lower than values previously reported for bulk epithelial tissue. They estimated the scattering coefficient of normal and precancerous cervical epithelium using meas...

We demonstrate a novel technique to determine the size of Mie scatterers with high sensitivity. Our technique is based on spectral domain optical coherence tomography measurements of the dispersion that is induced by the scattering process. We use both Mie scattering predictions and dispersion measurements of phantoms to show that the scattering dispersion is very sensitive to small changes in ...
متن کاملSources of scattering in cervical tissue: determination of the scattering coefficient by confocal microscopy.
Most models of light propagation through tissue assume that the scattering properties of various tissue layers are the same. We present evidence that the scattering coefficient of cervical epithelium varies by a factor of 3 within the epithelium owing to variations in nuclear density and to the presence of keratin. We estimated the scattering coefficient from regions of normal and precancerous ...
متن کاملOptical scattering coefficient estimated by optical coherence tomography correlates with collagen content in ovarian tissue.
Optical scattering coefficient from ex vivo unfixed normal and malignant ovarian tissue was quantitatively extracted by fitting optical coherence tomography (OCT) A-line signals to a single scattering model. 1097 average A-line measurements at a wavelength of 1310 nm were performed at 108 sites obtained from 18 ovaries. The average scattering coefficient obtained from the normal tissue group co...
